Valuing Diversity

Inclusion, diversity and supporting the rights of all humans are key values for the Transform Consulting team.  We believe that actions speak louder than words and we seek to actively demonstrate our belief that diverse perspectives, diverse identities, diverse lived experiences, in short diverse people, bring richness and depth to all endeavours.

D&I at Treasury

While Chief Human Resources Officer at Queensland Treasury, Sue led significant diversity and inclusion progress. Milestones include:

  • Establishing a Diversity and Inclusion Steering Committee, chaired by the Under-Treasurer (CEO).

  • Development and implementation of a pilot Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Cadetship program, in partnership with Griffith University  A initial cohort of 5 cadets studying Treasury related disciplines were selected and placed in business areas across Treasury. The program has been very successful and now includes a total of 11 cadets and articulates to various employment pathways.  Cultural capability training and ensuring cultural safety are key elements.

  • Collaborative development of Treasury’s Inclusion Matters statement, launched in June 2020.

  • Embedding D&I considerations into recruitment and selection processes to enhance employment and career prospects for diverse candidates.

Supporting Humans Rights

We believe in the basic rights of all humans represented through the shared values of  dignity, fairness, equality, respect and independence. These values are defined and protected by the Qld Human Rights Act 2019.

We stand against modern slavery and do not tolerate the use of child labor, forced labor, or human trafficking in any form—including slave labor, prison labor, indentured servitude, or bonded labor—in our operations or value chain.

Appreciating difference

Human Rights, Inclusion and diversity is an important part of a bigger principle for Us, and that principle is appreciating difference of all kinds.  Right now, the focus needs to be on key groups who are experiencing inequity due to a specific characteristic - whether that be gender, cultural background, disability, sexual orientation or other forms of diversity.  But our hope is for a society where true inclusion means that the focus on diversity as a initiative is no longer needed; inclusion is automatic and all encompassing and all forms of difference are appreciated and valued.
